4.5 16bit to 9...help!

I am a complete Crystal reports novice and am throwing myself at your mercy...i have a number of reports compiled under Crystal 4.5 16bit years ago by someone who has now left my company. They are compiled reports that run on users machines who don't have Crystal installed..and they have always worked just fine. I now need to get the same reports running under Crystal 9 but the first thing i noticed is that there is no compile report option, i have tried also compiling them under Crystal 7 32 bit but they still do no work. Is there any easy way of getting my 4.5 16bit .rpt's to work under 7 or 9 ?

Help!!I think that saving the report in a later version of Crystal is enough to convert it, but I'm not positive.

Have you updated the users machine to include the version 9 dlls? I know that when I switched from version 6 to version 8.5, I had trouble with a dll called p2smon.dll. Version 6 of p2smon has something in it that my reports utilize that version 8.5 doesn't support. (Like you, the reports I use were created by a person who no longer works at my company).

Here's a link to a thread I've posted about my Crystal problems with backward compatibility. It has links to other threads. Maybe you'll find something useful?

One thing i couldn't understand is that In Crystal 7 help one of the runtime files that is meant to be distributed with the report is called crrun32.exe. I can't find a copy of this file anywhere...
