DBArtsan is a good tool for Oracle/DB2 and Sybase. But as far as SQL Server
is concerned Enterprise manager is the best for
doing basic administration.

3rd party tools for job scheduling
I am looking for a better way to schedule jobs in SQL Server. I found
this tool called SQLschedule at www.idera.com and am using the 30 day
trial. This tool really has a cool GUI, and seems to work well. Does
anyone else have any experience with their tools? Are you aware of SQL Server's own Agent? What functionality are you looking
for that Agent doesn't provide?

3rd party tool to create reports
Hi,
Does any one know of a 3rd party tool to create report definitions for SQL
Reporting Services so you don't have to use Visual Studio.NET?
Y/JakobUnless you have objections about how it creates it or how easy it is to
create it, all you need to have is any version of VS, which includes VB. I
believe it is possible to get something with VS that costs only $100. I
doubt you could purchase a report writer for less than that. $100 per
developer is pretty inexpensive.

3rd Party Performance Tool/Software
Is there any software that can analyze stored procedure performance and
recommend solutions?
Thanks,
Dave
How about the database engine tuning advisor, which ships with the product?
You can send it a workload consisting of a single stored procedure call, but
for a better analysis and set of recommended enhancements, you're better off
providing a workload of a typical business day.
Note that this tool will recommend structural changes like adding/removing
indexes, partitioning, etc. It will not look at your SELECT query with 18
unions and suggest a single FROM with a CASE expression. :-)

optimize and refactor it, and recommend alternative solutions.
The only 'tool' that can do that is a skilled DBA!!

|||InDepth for SQL Server has such a feature which it implements by levaraging
either ITW or DTA depending on SQL version. It uses performance data stored
in its Performance Warehouse to feed the recommendations. It also clearly
identifies the statements and batches that are consuming most resource to
help guide your tuning efforts. To be honest we mostly use it for the latter
as it's extremely light weight and much less resource intensive than a trace
plus we don't want ITW/DTA run against a production database. However by
identifying the main resource consumers these can be tuned and measured in
the QA envionment to produce recommendations for production.

3rd party Data Administration Tools
I'm looking for a 3rd party tool to manage
disabling/enabling triggers. I evaluated Teratraw
Database Manager and it easily allows disabling/enabling
triggers via the gui but only 1 trigger at a time. I need
a tool that can disable/enable ALL triggers in a database
easily. (Similar to TOAD for Oracle).
Anyone know of such a management tool?
Thanks Rich
