A better SQL editor.

I think that the SQL Query Analyzer and its successor in SQL2005 suck.
They provide no intellisense whatsoever and it just feels like Notepad
with an Execute button. Anyway, what are the SQL editor alternatives
that people here use? Preferably not more expensive than $400.

DB2, SQL Server, etc.

FWIW PromptSQL makes no use of the network whatsoever. The only file
it accesses is the options XML file.

To be exact, there is not a 64-bit version of SQL Express, so there is no unique documentation for it. SQL Express 2005 only has a 32-bit version, the difference between the two packages, SQLEXPR32.EXE and SQLEXPR.EXE is that the latter contains the files required to run SQL Express in Windows on Windows (Wow) on x64 operating systems, but it's still 32-bit. Either package will install onto 32-bit OS, but only the second one can install on 64-bit. We did this to allow for a smaller download size if you know your gong to always install to 32-bit, which is the case for most Express users.

Is microsoft going to provide 64 bit version of MSDASQL ( OLEDB Wraper for ODBC) in future? This was working great while accessing Data from IBM AS/400 on Iseries from 32 bit sql 2000. Now, it's all screwed up with rediculously slow OLEDB both from MS and IBM. I wonder if any of these guys really care!

Our current code is dependent on it while at the same time we are in the midst of a large SQL 2005 x64 rollout and have been tripped up by the lack of msdasql.dll support in 64 bit. Do you have any idea how soon it will be out or if there are ways to get it sooner rather than later?

The MDAC team is going to release 64 MSDASQL..."when Longhorn is released, which is the new version of Windows. I've read that Longhorn won't be out until 3rd or 4th quarter, so we'll have to investigate other avenues."

Is there any update since April? I can not connect 64-bit SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 6.5. As far as 6.5 is not supported by native SQL client, ODBC is the only way to make a direct connection.

Well, Longhorn Beta 3 is out, but I don't see an updated MSDQSQL.dll download. Will the 64-bit MSDASQL.dll be available as a separate download? I don't want to have to download the immense Longhorn and take up a test server trying to extract the single DLL.

This lack of 64-bit compatibility is delaying a production implementation for us.

Is there any update since April? I can not connect 64-bit SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 6.5. As far as 6.5 is not supported by native SQL client, ODBC is the only way to make a direct connection.

Is microsoft going to provide 64 bit version of MSDASQL ( OLEDB Wraper for ODBC) in future? This was working great while accessing Data from IBM AS/400 on Iseries from 32 bit sql 2000. Now, it's all screwed up with rediculously slow OLEDB both from MS and IBM. I wonder if any of these guys really care!

Our current code is dependent on it while at the same time we are in the midst of a large SQL 2005 x64 rollout and have been tripped up by the lack of msdasql.dll support in 64 bit. Do you have any idea how soon it will be out or if there are ways to get it sooner rather than later?

The MDAC team is going to release 64 MSDASQL..."when Longhorn is released, which is the new version of Windows. I've read that Longhorn won't be out until 3rd or 4th quarter, so we'll have to investigate other avenues."

64-bit MSDASQL (both AMD64 and IA64) will be released in Windows Longhorn Server Beta 3 and Windows Vista SP1.

It has been stated that Microsoft will "not" provide a 64 bit version of
MSDASQL...but I have found a response from the MDAC Team stating otherwise
(http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1239339&SiteID=1).
When will this be available (dates please)? We are migrating many apps from
32 bit to 64 bit and we have run into several major issues due to MSDASQL not
being available.
