64-bit Separate Install?

I want to know if 64-bit SQL Server 2005 is a separate install. I have been provided with SQL Server 2005 enterprise CD. I tried browsing through the folder but could not find 64-bit install.

I am assuming the CD I have is 32-bit because the system configuration check report had this message "64-bit ASP.NET is registered. Required 32-bit ASP.NET to install Microsoft Reporting service 2005(32 bit)"

The windows server I am trying to install is Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 Edition. I uninstalled the all the client and SQL Server 2005 install. Since my windows server 2003 hardware requirements are compatible for 64-bit SQL server 2005, I want to go ahead and install 64-bit SQL server 2005.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

64bit SQL Server is a separate install, and even IA64 vs. x64 are also separate files

.

Reporting Services is still 32bit, as well as most of the client tools, including Management Studio.

With the installation media.

Using Windows Explorer, right click on setup.exe, select [Properties], and click on the [Version] tab.

Comments 'should' indicate which version you are inspecting.

Thanks Arnie!!

I am little confused when you said reporting service is still 32bit. Please see this article.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934162

"How to install a 32-bit version of SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services on a computer that is running a 64-bit version of Windows"

The article says that "Uninstall the 64-bit version of Reporting Services."

So I am guessing Reporting services is available on 64-bit too. Please confirm.

You are correct to question my earlier mis-statement.

I meant to say that the client tools, except Reporting Services, are 32 bit.

Reporting Services comes in both 32/64 bit versions and is fully integrated with either 32 or 64 bit SQL Server.

However, if you are using a 32bit IIS, there may be issues that require you to use the 32bit RS.

Thanks for the clarification.

Now I have another question from your response, I am guessing my IIS is 64bit because when I installed IIS,

I had to point to AMD64 folder in the source CD. How do I confirm this?

Thanks in advance.

|||One 'quick and dirty' way to confirm that your server is running all 64bit applications is to examine the services applet ([Control Panel], [AdministrativeTools], [Services]). If you see WOW in the list, some application is running in 32 bit.|||

Thanks for your help.

I do not see WOW in the list.

AS far as I am aware, WOW is required to run any 32bit applications in the 64bit OS.

For a 'more certain' answer, you might also post in the Windows Architecture forum, or perhaps one of the IE forums.
